Recording with Simon

My friend Simon is a professional musician - he argues anyone can make a hit single and invited me to his studio to record a song of my making. The afternoon was inspiring, fascinating, terrifying and ultimately extremely rewarding.

I played rhythm guitar, drum machine, wrote and sang lyrics and, always a dream of mine, played mellotron. Simon played lead guitar, bass guitar, mobile phone, sound effects, backing vocals and produced the song, titled Be Polite. It is influenced by the music of Neu, Elvis Costello and early Genesis, an unusual mix for one song.
I have set it to film of my Selfridges window from earlier in the year.
