The drivers on site are really skilful and fearless when it comes to manoeuvring the massive waste removal vehicles.
The flourescent tubes go to a specialist recycler - they contain mercury which needs extracting. An estimated 80 million spent fluorescent tubes are sent to landfill every year, equating to 3000 tonnes of waste, of which 4 tonnes is mercury.
